About Candidate2010
Candidate2010 is a national poll of candidates proposing to stand in the 2010 general election. Specifically, it asks candidates to identify where they stand on the key issue of Britain’s relationship with the European Union. Candidates are given a rating of between one and five stars depending on their reply. Broadly speaking, the more stars the less supportive the candidate is of the European Union.
The Candidate2010 rating system
Candidate2010 uses a five-point system to summarize a candidate's views on Britain and the EU. Where available, more informaton is given in an individual candidate's profile.
| * | One star indicates that the candidate strongly supports the EU and the concept of further European integration. |
| ** | Two stars indicates that the candidate fully supports Britain's membership of the EU and/or does not support a referendum on further European integration. |
| *** | Three stars indicates that the candidate supports Britain's membership of the EU, but may advocate the returning of limited powers to the UK. |
| **** | Four stars indicates that the candidate favours a referendum on Britain's relationship with the EU and/or favours the return of significant powers from the EU to the UK. |
| ***** | Five stars indicates that the candidate believes that Britain would be better off out of the EU. |
